The Garden Club of American Zone VI Urban Forestry Fellowship is a highly competitive national fellowship designed to foster advanced study and scholarship in urban forestry. The academic review panel and GCA selection committee will critically assess the areas described below when reviewing fellowship applications.
Does the applicant show evidence of strong academic ability?
Does the applicant demonstrate a compelling interest in, or dedication to, the field of urban forestry?
Does the applicant have the ability to work independently and think critically?
Does the applicant’s future career ambitions and/or interests have the potential for significant impact on urban forests and urban forestry (national impact is preferred)?
Is the applicant’s research project well thought out and will it have a significant impact on urban forestry?
Completed applications (including recommendation form)
must be RECEIVED by January 31st. An award decision will be made by
mid February and forwarded to the Garden Club of America who will
officially notify award recipients. When you have completed the application,
click submit application and your form will be transmitted to our
review committee at the Virginia
Tech Forestry Department. Your application will also require a
recommendation form to be complete.
We recommend that you print the completed application before submission
for your records. You will receive an email acknowledgement within
5 days of submission. If you do not recieve an acknowledgement
