2007 Recipient of the
|
I was so honored when I learned that I was this recipient of the 2007 Doc Walbridge scholarship. Throughout my classes in the College of Natural Resources I have heard countless stories about the legendary Doc Walbridge, all of them filled with a great deal of respect and veneration. Doc’s contributions to the study of Industrial Forestry Operations here at Virginia Tech and in the academic community at large are well known and expansive, and it is a huge honor to be selected as the recipient of the scholarship. As a short background about myself, I am 21 years old and come from Gaithersburg, Maryland. I am a senior studying Industrial Forestry Operations. I am the current president of the student chapter of the Society of American Foresters, and the secretary of the Virginia Tech Forestry Club. I was also inducted into Xi Sigma Pi in the fall of 2006. After graduating this spring from the forestry program, I hope to continue my studies and pursue a graduate degree in Agricultural Education here at Virginia Tech. I would like to thank all those who donated and made this scholarship a possibility, I am so thankful to you for your contributions. Finally, I’d like to thank Doc, for helping make the forestry program I know and love as great as it is. |
