A stroke delimber is used to sort and delimb softwood trees that have been skidded within reach of its moving arm. Pincers on the end of the arm grab the butt end of a tree and then pull the tree through delimbing knives which removes any branches present on the stem. The arm then moves forward and the log is stacked in the appropriate area.
