What is an Owl Pellet? An owl pellet is the feces that is regurgitate. Owl's cannot digest fur, feathers and bones, that is the main reason of regurgitation. An owl will still prodeuce urea. Pellets range in size, it all depends on the size of the owl and the amount it has eaten. |

The Inside of the Owl Pellet With an owl pellet is that is only four inches long a lot can be found in there. When a pellet is ripped apart, bones are seen everywhere. It is not unusal to find leg bones around where the skull would be. Sometimes you can even find three or four different animals in the pellet. Owls usually eat small rodents, reptiles and smaller birds. In this particular owl pellet all that was found was was small rodents. The usually small rodents are shrews, moles, voles and mice. The reptiles consist of snakes and lizards. Owls also eat other birds and sometimes even smaller owls. |
