American Chestnut Seedling Survival

Data and Questions

Data collected by 4-H youth and students is being used to determine the best growing conditions for planting blight-resistant chestnut seedlings. We currently have good data from growers who planted seedlings in 1997, 2001 and 2002. Student questions presented here are the same questions being asked by scientists. Students may apply the questions to any cohort. A cohort is a group of seedlings planted in the same year. We are interested in student answers to these questions. Please send them to Jeff Kirwan, Extension Specialist, College of Natural Resources, Virginia Tech Mail Code 0324, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
