Biodiversity

Overview:

Students measure trees on their school campus or on forest plots nearby. 1/10 acre is a common size to sample. All trees in the plot will be tagged with a number provided by Virginia Tech. The trees will be checked once a year by students who will add them to the biodiversity database for that year. Contact Jeff Kirwan about submitting data. This project can be done any time of year. You must be able to identify your tree. Data submitted will be live on the web immediately. Students may then answer questions about the summary graphs available in the contents of the database. This investigation can be conducted in conjuction with Tree Growth.
