April, 2008—The Nobel Committee recognized forestry faculty member Steve Prisley by awarding him a certificate commemorating his involvement with the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the panel’s receipt of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize along with Al Gore. Steve was one of many individuals who contributed to the work recognized by the Norwegian Nobel Committee “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.” His contributions included lead authorship of “Afforestation, Reforestation, and Deforestation (ARD) Activities,” part of an IPCC Special Report on Land-Use, Land-Use-Change, and Forestry.
