  • Dave White - 2002 Graduate ( PhD, Forestry)

It was a big year for Dave White and his family.   Dave and his wife Rebecca welcomed their daughter Fern on October 14, 2007.  Rebecca completed her PhD in Family and Human Development in May and will begin a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Health Management and Policy at Arizona State University in Tempe.  Meanwhile, Dave was awarded tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Community Resources and Development at Arizona State University in Phoenix.  They remain part of the Hokie Nation and keep many fond memories of Blacksburg. 

Mike T. Jones will retire after 39+ years of service with the USDA - Natural Resources Conservation Service. The retirement will be effective on October 3, 2008. I will continue to reside at our home / farm on the Nottoway River near Purdy, VA. with my wife of 32 years, Pat H. Jones. We received the VIRGINIA TREE FARMER of the YEAR Award (2007). Employed in May 2008 as a Planner at AMEC Earth and Environmental in Chantilly, VA.

I am currently an Arborist on a tree crew for the National Park Service.   My duty location is the George Washington Memorial Parkway.  We maintain trees along the parkway, Great Falls Virginia, Arlington House, Glen Echo and Fort Hunt.  I've experienced some amazing views of the capital and other monuments from the tops of trees in our work area.  It is an interesting place to work to say the least.  I have been with the park service for two years.  In that time I have earned my CDL, Commercial Pesticide Applicators License and am currently working on getting a red card.

  • Steve Long - 1978 Graduate (Environmental  Resource Management Option)

Appointed State Environmental Administrator for the Virginina Department of Transportation in Richmond. This position oversees all environmental operations of the Department.

Executive Director of the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University. 

Recently relocated to Richmond, VA as a Senior Program Manager for HDR Engineering, Inc.  Responsibilities include environmental and resource management consulting throughout Virginia.
