Review:
Acer rubrum is possibly the most widely planted urban tree of the mid-Atlantic. It is so widely planted I would recomend not selecting cultivars for usage by urban foresters so as to increase genetic diversity within the population. The red maple is an excellent shade tree, it is a fast grower that is tolerant of urban conditions/soils and provides aesthetic benefits from its flowers (pictured), architecture, and fall color.
