Anyone who has trekked across the drillfield should remember this landmark. Although it is not native to this area, this bur oak thrives in its planted location. Bur oak is a very drought-tough tree common to dry uplands, sandy plains, and prairie grasslands. The wood is commercially valuable and acorn production benefits wildlife.
