NATURAL
RESOURCE DEAN APPOINTED
TO NATIONAL BOARDS
BLACKSBURG,
July 29, 2002 - Dean Greg
Brown in the College of
Natural Resources at Virginia
Tech was appointed to
the Scientific Advisory
Board of the National
Foundation for Environmental
Education (NFFEE). The
foundation deals with
a variety of environmental
issues related to the
National Association of
Home Builders (NAHB),
redeveloping Brownfield
sites, and the protection
of wetlands.
The NFFEE's current forum
deals with incorporating
the NAHB's curriculum
into Project Learning
Tree. The environmental
education group works
with the U.S. Department
of Interior and the Fish
and Wildlife Service to
develop protocols for
analyzing the economic
impacts of critical habitat
designations. The group
also researches mold and
moisture control, ramifications
of the Endangered Species
Act, and the recent phenomenon
of people who live in
one state and work in
another.
NFFEE seeks a balance
that conserves natural
resources while meeting
America's housing needs.
In
another new appointment,
the Renewable Natural
Resources Foundation has
invited Brown to join
the six-person Renewable
Resources Journal's
Editorial Advisory Board.
