MOVIE REVIEW Alternative Assignement

This is the alternative assignment for those that cannot make the class film veiwings.  It is a 2-3 page 'geographic' write-up of a movie that you choose from the list below and watch on your own.  You must do a review for each film viewing that you cannot make it to....meaning, if you can't come to any of the films this semester, than you will need to do 5 reviews, from five different regions.  Feel free to mix and match though...if you can come to 1 or 2 movies in class, than you can just do 3 or four write-ups for the film grades you are missing. Click on the FORMAT link below to get explicit details on how to do the write-up.  Click of the regional links below to see lists of accaptable films, in addition to the films we will be watching in class, which you can also use. Since these regional lists are kind of dated and there are a whole bunch of newer foriegn films out there, email me if you have another movie you would like to use that is not on the list.  Any questions can be directed to me at joboyer@vt.edu.

Click the links below to see the movie options for each region.  Movie reviews MUST be from movies listed on this site, or be one of the ones I'm actually showing to the class.  I am more than willing to consider adding titles to the list if you have any suggestions, but they must be cleared by me and added to the site before anyone is eligible to use them.  If you do a movie not from these lists, even if it is an applicable movie, you will not get credit for it.  There is no specific order that you must follow, but please remember that you are allowed only one movie choice per region.  That is, you may turn in your first review on a South Asian movie if you like, then Eastern Europe, then whatever.  But once you do one review from South Asia, you cannot do anymore from the South Asian list for credit.  By semester's end, you will have done five reviews from five different regions--you have 10 regions to choose from below.  Also, please remember that you are only allowed to turn in one reveiw per due date.  If we get down to the last due date and you have only turned in 2 reveiws, you are basically out of luck.  ALL reveiws accepted ONLY on class lecture days, ONLY in class.  Please give them directly to the TA's.

Codes for the following webpages are: BB=Blockbuster Video, VTLIB=VT Library where some titles will be on reserve--the CAM (Center for Alternative Media) is on the first floor of Newman Library.
