Every place in Virginia belongs to a watershed. The quality of water in each stream and river depends in large part on the land uses in the watershed. Land used for residential, agricultural, or commercial areas can either hurt or support water quality. This site contains watershed-specific satellite images of land use. Once you understand the current uses of your watershed, learn how to improve it by landscaping your backyard or field. You can browse maps and tables that scientists have created to learn more about your watershed.
