Sumacs

The most common sumacs in Virginia are poison ivy, scarlet sumac and winged sumac. Sumacs grow in moist, sunny, open places in pastures, along fencerows, stream borders, and roads. Sumacs are not a preferred food of wildlife but they are important for winter sustenance.
