Notes: This tree grows at Woodberry Forest School, founded in 1889 when Civil War veteran Captian Walker bought the house and land and hired a tutor for his boys. William Madison, brother of President James Madison, origanally chose the land for his estate in 1792. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison made up the floor plans for the house for William Madison. |
