A Remarkable American sycamore
| Tree
Information |
|
| Common Name: American sycamore | |
| Scientific
name: Platanus occidentalis
|
|
Category:
Unique tree
Notes: This tree measures 17' 9" in circumference and hangs over the North River, which is 2 1/2 miles east of Weyers Cave on a farm owned by Lowell Heatwole. The tree leans almost at a 45 degree angle, Zaccheus could have almost walked up this tree! It is amazing how this huge tree continues to stand, leaning this much. The flood waste of 1985 and 1996 was probably up 25 to 30 feet in the tree. |
