Notes: There is a a lovely, huge sycamore that has been on the VT campus a long time, at the corner of College and Main. In this c. 1882 picture the tree is a 10 - 15 year old tree to the left of the Preston and Olin Bldg. Main street now cuts right up to what was the walkway to the entrance. It may have been planted with the establishment of the Preston and Olin Institute in the 1850s. It's being featured symbolically on something the Class of 2011 is working on. |
